Treatments

No matter what treatment you choose, your comfort and wellbeing will be the focus of my attention. Treatments are carried out in a purpose-designed therapy room, based within my own home, an area of peace and relaxation, where you will be able to escape from daily pressures and let any aches melt away.

All initial appointments will include a 10-15 minute health consultation prior to treatment. This is an important time for me to get to know my client and discuss with them the best therapy options for their needs, as well as answering any questions they may have.

Reflexology

Modern reflexology is based on an ancient form of therapy. There is evidence to suggest that a form of hand and foot therapy has been used in China and Egypt since 2330 B.C.

Reflexology uses gentle pressure on specific points along your feet.  It’s also known as zone therapy. It’s thought that different parts of the foot correlate with different organs and parts of the body.

In traditional Chinese medicine, it's believed that this type of therapy can keep your body’s qi (pronounced “chi”), or vital energy, balanced.

Other theories focus on how your body’s nervous system is all connected. Applying pressure, or even touching areas of your feet is believed to calm your central nervous system and promote relaxation.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

What is it ?

A manual lymphatic drainage massage is a full body treatment and is very gentle. The lymphatic fluid should drain into fine tubes called lymph vessels. The drainage points are generally just below the skin. So, to move lymphatic fluid the therapist needs to warm and move the skin without impacting deep tissue.

The techniques used in this treatment involve massaging with very gentle upward and circular strokes to encourage the fluid to move into vessels. This results in an experience that is extremely soothing and deeply relaxing.
